Last ToughtprovokingmomentsBLOG.com blog posts of 2023 My Testimony Since you can do it to me or make it happen to me, why can't I testify about it? If you are bold enough to bother me, why can't you be bold enough to claim the actions AND hear me testify or read my testimony about MY experience concerning our interaction? Why should we be quiet about your mishandling of us OR of your correct handling of us that looks bad for you coming from you, like a parent or an adult deals with a child that may be correct but looks rough and out-of-order? You brag privately about your story of what you did but do not want us to tell our story of what you did to us. Stories of racism, prejudice, misogyny, gender abuse, bigotry, assault, economic oppression, intellectual hijacking, etc., that I/we have experienced should be hidden according to the perpetrators. If you can do it to me or to us, we should be just as bold in testifying about our experience to others. Jesus' story of the crucifixion, the cross, and the tomb are written in the Book for everyone to read. Jesus' attackers wanted their actions known at the time because they were sure they were doing the right thing by abusing Jesus (although there was one that had second thoughts that may not have wanted his name and actions written in the book – Judas Iscariot.) They marched him through town. They hung Him high. They stretched him wide. They were sure (right or wrong) of what they did to him. If you are sure of how you handle someone, you should not want them to hide your actions towards them. If you are not sure you want your action known, don't do it. Holidays. Parents get really sanctimonious about them being celebrated right. During the year, the kids are allowed to believe in Peppa Pig, Spiderman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Batman... Yet, on Holidays, Santa Claus (and other holiday representatives and activities) are banned because they don't represent Christ. Kids know something is amiss when they're allowed to do all kinds of questionable stuff most of the year, but have to be really holy and spiritual on holidays. Just be consistent, whatever rules you choose to believe or enact. Consider toy deliverers (and bunnies) part of the usual characters of make believe that your kids watch and idolize every day. Have we told bigger lies all year long? So why bash the Santa story? "This proverb is spoken by Jesus in Matthew 23:24. On His last trip to Jerusalem, Jesus spoke at length about life under the oppressive reign of the Pharisees. The religious leaders tested Him continually “and plotted how to entangle him in his words” (Matthew 22:15). In Matthew 23, Jesus pronounced seven woes against the scribes and Pharisees, accusing them of hypocrisy, laying heavy burdens on the people, exalting themselves, and preventing people from entering God’s kingdom. He was especially harsh in His assessment of their strict adherence to the laws of tithing while they “neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness” (Matthew 23:23). He concludes by saying, “You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel” (verse 24)." (Gotquestions.org) If you plan to go back to the bad behavior all the next year, why change only on one or three holidays? Respect God every day. Live right every day. Revelations 22:11-12 11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. 12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. Revelations is about the endtimes but don't forget that God comes for people every day. All day long, people xome face-to-face with death. I do believe conversations happen between them and God during those final moments but that isn't to say they're always good redemptive conversations. Ease up on Santa Claus. www.etsy.com/shop/becmin |
